Overview
Versa Cloud supports the usage of a KIT product to bundle multiple products together as a single product for sale. With our Shopify integration, you can sell your kit product online as well. Shopify does not support the concept of a kit so to the visitor of your Shopify store, they are buying a whole product. A kit contains the kit product itself (what you are selling it as) and the items in the kit (kit item products)
Since Shopify does not have Kit support, you should create the kit product first in Versa and then either create new product in Shopify using Versa's publishing capability or have the new product in Versa be linked to an existing product in Shopify.
1. Create the Kit in Versa
Go create a new product from Products menu, and you MUST choose the product as non-inventoried since we are tracking inventory of the items in the kit. If items in the kit are not already created in the system, create them as new INVENTORIED products. If you have downloaded products from Shopify and wish to turn them into kit, you must either delete the product that is created (you cannot delete the product if there are order history against it) or rename the product and turn it into inactive.
After the product is created. Go turn it into a kit by going to Products menu, New Kit. Enter the name of the product you just created, and the choose the product from the list. Click on Edit.
You would now define what items are in the kit. Type in the part number of the description of the kit item to find the product and then put in the quantity that will go into the kit (1 EA or 2 EA etc). Click Add to Kit to finish adding one item. Repeat this process until all kit items are added.
2a. Publish the kit as a new product in Shopify
Go to the kit product you first created and choose the Shopify store that is connected to your account, choose publish. This will create the product in Shopify.
2b. Link kit to an existing product in Shopify.
Go to Webstores (or Tools, webstores) and find your Shopify store setting. Click on Run Action and choose link products. The system will take the trading name of the Kit product and see if there is a product in Shopify with the SKU matching the trading name. If a match is found , the 2 products are connected. The linking of products run in the background so you can leave the page and wait for it to finish.
3. New Orders with Kit
When an order is placed in your Shopify store, Versa will download the order and place the kit items as additional sales order lines in the order so you can see the kit as a parent line and children lines for each of the item in the kit. If a kit consist of 2 items, you will see 3 lines in the order. One for the kit product and 2 for the kit item product.
Since the kit items are separate order lines, you can ship part of the kit and then ship the rest later. But generally, you would ship the entire kit together.
4. Creating many kits through import
If you wish to create many kit, first create the kit product and the kit item product from Tools menu, imports and exports, parts, product and services import.
Then use the CSV import found at Tools menu, getting started, Kits to load in the definition of the kit.
