Any item you keep in your inventory must have an associated Part record.
The Part record defines the following things about your item:
When you are done entering parts, click on any of the hyperlinks on the side or top navigation bars to leave the part creation screen.
- Part Number: This can be any unique text string (i.e. widget-001, 645822)
- Description: A description of the part
- Measurement Unit in: This is the base unit-of-measure for your part -- the smallest UOM that it can be kept in. The default is EA or Each.
- Inventory Type: Raw Materials, Work-in-process, or Finished Goods
- Product Category: Each part must be a member of a Product Category. This determines its revenue account and COGS account when it is sold.
- Batch Quantity: default is 1 -- this is the quantity that would be built by a Bill-of-Materials related to the Part.
- Batch Units: The measurement unit of the batch quantity.
- Supplier
- Supplier's Part Number: The text in this field will be included on any Purchase Orders issued to your Approved Vendor.
- Minimum Order Quantity: This is the minimum quantity that can be placed with the Vendor. Any ordered quantity must be in multiples of this quantity.
- MPQ Cost: The cost of the number of units specified by the Minimum Order Quantity.
- Lead Time: The minimum number of days between releasing a Purchase Order and receiving the goods.
- Comment: This can contain any text that you would like to associate with the Approved Vendor
- Minimum Level: The level below which a reorder notice will be triggered.
- Reorder Quantity: The minimum quantity that will be suggested by a reorder notice or specified on a draft Purchase Order. The actual quantity suggested in the reorder notice or draft purchase order will be a multiple of the Minimum Order Quantity specified in the Approved Vendor record.
Creating A Part
You can create a part as follows:- If you are not already on the User View, click the Switch View hyperlink on the VersAccounts top menu bar and chose user view.
- Go to Products / Inventory / New Part
- Complete the New Part, and optionally the Approved Vendor or Reorder Setpoints sections of the form.
- Click the Create Part button at the bottom of the form.
When you are done entering parts, click on any of the hyperlinks on the side or top navigation bars to leave the part creation screen.
