It is often the case that you will purchase (and receive) inventory in one unit-of-measure and then use it within your operation by a different unit-of-measure. For instance, you might buy adhesive by the litre and the use it by the milliliter.
You can convert inventory from a given unit-of-measure to any other unit-of-measure as long as an appropriate conversion factor exists. VersAccounts places no contraints on the Conversion Factors that you might wish to create. For example, if your operation uses large quantities of coiled steel, then you likely issue Purchase Order for 2mm galvanized steel by the ton. However, you would use the steel in your operation measured by surface area. For this instance, you would want a conversion factor that converts from tons to 'square metres of 2mm galvanized steel'.
Most situations, however, are more pedestrian in nature. You might want to convert, say, a box of 100 pencils to 100 EA for sale individually.

- If you are not already on the User Screen, click the 'User Screen' hyperlink on the top navigation bar.
- Go to your inventory listing for the product via the search at Products / Search Inventoried Products.
- There will be a 'Convert' link at the very right of each inventory line. If the inventory is lotted then drill down into the quantity of inventory you wish to convert; there will be a 'Convert' link at the right of each listed lot.
- Find the particular inventory item that you would like to convert of a different unit-of-measure. Click on the 'Convert' hyperlink to its immediate right.
- Enter a quantity of the inventory that you would like to either 'break' into smaller units-of-measure (e.g. from liters to milliliters) or 'consolidate' (e.g. from milliliters to liters) and then click on either the 'Break' or 'Consolidate' button at the right.
