If a product is lotted (require lot numbers for inventory), it is often needed to track certain attributes per lot. Expiry date for example. To store the expiry date for a lot, you would need to create a Lot Custom Field for the lotted product. Find the product and then edit the product. At the bottom of the page, there is a link for lot custom field form. Click on it will reveal a form to fill out.
Enter the name of the custom field, pick an existing field qualifier, (see article about field qualifier). If this custom field must be filled in, make it mandatory and also if you want to see the custom field values when a lot list is presented on the shipment screen, check the checkbox Show on Lost List.
Click on Submit to save the custom field.
After you have received a new lot from the Shipment Receipt page, you need to enter the custom field (expiry date). You need to go to the Products in the main menu, Parts Search and find the product . Once the product is found, its current inventory is listed per facility, click on the number under On Hand for the facility you are interested in. You will be taken to a page where each lot for the product is listed. Click on the custom field name (e.g. expiry date) to enter a new value for it. Click Validate to finish.
