Creating a New Product Category
You can create a new Product Category as follows:
- If you are not already on the User Screen, click on the User Screen hyperlink on the top navigation bar.
- Go to Products / Categories
- Enter your desired catetory name in the Category Name field.
- Click the checkboxes under For Sale and For Purchase to set your desired actions for your new category.
- If you have placed a checkmark in the For Sale box, select a revenue account to be used for the new category.
- Click on the Create Category button. Done.
Updating a Product Category
You can update any aspect of a Category to suit your changing needs. Updating a category will not affect any transactions already posted to your General Ledger.
You can update a Category as follows:
- If you are not already on the User Screen, click on the User Screen hyperlink on the top navigation bar.
- Go to Products / Categories
- Click on the category name hyperlink of the category you wish to modify.
- Make any desired changes to the category information or settings.
- Click on the Update Category button.
Deleting a Product Category
You can delete categories as long as a) they are not default categories, and b) they do not have products and services currently assigned to them.
Delete a category as follows:
- If you are not already on the User Screen, click on the 'User Screen' hyperlink on the top navigation bar.
- Go to Products / Categories
- Click on the '[X]' hyperlink to the right of the doomed category. (You will be asked to confirm the deletion.) Done.
