Shipping rules are preset shipping information stored in the system. They are used to specify how an order is to be shipped. Usage of the shipping rules are not mandatory. You can always set the shipping information at individual orders.
There are different types of Shipping Rules you can create.
Package Dimension:
You can store the different package sizes you use to ship products in. This is mainly used for integration with Shipping Carriers like USPS, UPS, Fedex to get accurate shipping quotes. Create as many
Package Weight:
If your outgoing shipment packages can fit into certain weight thresholds, you can create the different weight thresholds here.
Shipping Method:
If there are different services you used to ship in your orders, you can define them here. For example, if you want to offer customers options of shipping ground vs air by Fedex, you can create a method called Ground, selected the carrier Fedex and choose all the possible Fedex ground services like Fedex Ground Home Delivery, Fedex Ground. Such methods can be overridden when you are manually shipping the order on the new shipment page.
Custom Clearances:
When shipping packages internationally, custom delectation information is required. You can enter a short description for the products and the country of manufacture. For shipping carriers that supports it, Versa can send this information to generate a commercial invoice for custom clearance.
Applying Shipping In Bulk
You can go to Orders, Sales Orders, Open Orders page to see a list of open sales orders. Select some orders by checking the checkboxes next to each order. Click on Apply Shipping Rules to choose from a list of predefined rules to apply to selected orders. Once the shipping rules are applied, you can go into each order to see the shipping rules applied in the shipping preference section.
