Shipping staff create a carrier label after a sales-order shipment is picked and packed. Check the physical parcel, address, and service before selecting a rate. Generating a label does not mean the parcel has left or the shipment has been posted.
Before you start
With Shipping access, open the sales order's shipment from Logistics > Order Shipments. Confirm that a supported carrier connection is configured. FedEx, UPS, Stamps, and EasyPost can generate labels in Versa.
Get and print a label
- Check the ship-to address, packed contents, weight, dimensions, and any customer shipping-account instruction. Select Use Customer's Shipping Account and enter the Customer Shipping Account number when required.
- Select Get Shipping Rates. Compare the available carrier and service choices with the approved shipment.
- Under Select and Generate Label, select a rate. Versa creates the label as soon as you select it. When Auto Select and Generate Shipping Label Based on Shipping Preferences is enabled and a rate matches the order's preference, Versa skips the manual choice.
- Confirm the recipient, service, and tracking details on the generated label. Print it through the carrier or browser print action, then attach it to the correct parcel. The tracking number fills in on the shipment.
- Hand the parcel to the shipping team or carrier. Complete the shipment posting process for goods that actually left, then check the posted shipment and any customer or billing handoff.
If you need a different rate
Choosing another rate attempts to void the earlier label, but that void can fail without a message. Confirm the void with the carrier before discarding or replacing the old physical label.
If you don't see what you expect
- No rates or label: Check the carrier connection, package details, address, and carrier support.
- Label differs from the order: Correct the package or service before posting or dispatching. An order shipping charge is separate from label generation.
