Point of Sale turns a browser at your counter into a cash register. Cashiers sell from a touch-friendly Sale screen, take cash, cheque and card payments, print or email receipts, hold and resume sales, and process returns. Every sale becomes a normal Versa order, with its invoice, payment and stock movement posted the same way as any other order.
Administrators decide how each register works: which warehouse it sells from, which taxes it charges, which discounts and payment options cashiers can use, and what the receipt says. At the end of the day, cashiers count the drawer and close the register, and administrators review cash differences, card payments and every transaction from one place.
This guide has three parts:
- Part 1: Set up the Point of Sale (administrators). Turn the Point of Sale on for an entity, give cashiers access and configure each register.
- Part 2: Sell at the register (cashiers). Sign in, open the register, take sales and returns, and close the register.
- Part 3: Review exceptions and audit transactions (administrators). Approve cash differences, take over a register, void a sale and check card payments and transaction history.
Why use the Point of Sale
Without the Point of Sale, a counter sale means creating a sales order, shipping it, invoicing it and recording a payment receipt, one screen at a time. With the Point of Sale, the cashier taps the products, takes the payment and hands over the receipt. Versa creates the order, the invoice and the payment together, takes the goods out of the register's warehouse and keeps a register session that shows how much cash should be in the drawer.
Who can use the Point of Sale
- Your company: the Point Of Sale feature must be part of your company's Versa subscription. Contact Versa support if you do not see the Point of Sale settings.
- The entity: an administrator turns the Point of Sale on for each entity that sells at a counter (Turn On The Point Of Sale, described below). Registers, favourites, PINs and settings belong to one entity.
- Cashiers: users with the Point Of Sale permission can sell, take returns, hold sales and open and close a register.
- Firm Admins: users who are Firm Admins also set up registers and card readers, release or take over a register, set PINs and the idle lock, approve cash differences at closeout, void sales and resolve card payments.
- One register per browser: a cashier sells only after choosing a register for their browser on the Register page. A register is used from one browser at a time.
Part 1: Set up the Point of Sale (administrators)
Complete these steps once for each entity that will sell at a counter. Sign in as a Firm Admin and select the entity first.
Step 1: Create a walk-in customer
Every sale needs a customer. Most counter sales are to people you do not keep an account for, so create one customer for them, for example Walk-in Customer, using the normal customer screen. Give it the currency and payment terms your counter sales use. Cashiers can still pick a named customer for any sale.
Step 2: Turn on the Point of Sale and choose the overall settings
- Open Setup and choose Point Of Sale → POS Setting. This opens Feature Settings at the Point Of Sale panel.
- Fill in the settings below and choose Save Setting.
The settings, and what each one does:
- Walk-in Customer For New Sales: the customer each new sale opens with. Start typing the name of the customer you created in Step 1 and pick it from the list.
- Turn On The Point Of Sale: turns the Point of Sale on for this entity. Users with the Point Of Sale permission then see Point of Sale in the user menu and open it when they sign in.
- Allow Orders Without Payments: lets cashiers accept a sale without taking payment now (Pay later at the register), for example for account customers or goods picked up later. Each register can follow this setting or override it (see the Pay Later tab below).
- Create Invoice With Orders: when on, a sale creates and posts its invoice when the customer takes the goods at the register. Each register can follow this setting or override it (see the Invoices tab below).
- Allow Recording Card Payments Taken On The Terminal: when the card reader is not connected to Versa, cashiers can charge the card on the payment terminal itself and record it at the register with the terminal's approval code or reference. These payments are listed under Setup → Point Of Sale → Card payments to review for you to check against the card provider's settlement report (see Part 3).
- Require An Open Register Session To Sell: cashiers must open the register with an opening float before the first sale and close it with a cash count at the end. Turn this on for any counter that keeps cash, so that every difference in the drawer is recorded.
- Post Register Sale Invoices In The Background: cash, cheque and manual sales finish at once, and their invoice is created and posted a few seconds later. This keeps the queue moving on busy counters. Card and Pay Later sales are not affected. If a background posting fails, the sale is listed under Invoices to review (see Part 3).
- Cash Difference A Firm Admin Must Approve At Closeout: when the counted cash differs from the expected cash by more than this amount, the cashier cannot close the register. A Firm Admin must close it with a note. Enter 0.00 to require approval for any difference.
The example above turns on Pay Later, invoices, card payments from the terminal and register sessions, and asks a Firm Admin to approve any cash difference over 5.00.
Step 3: Choose a default account for each payment method
The register shows one button per payment method (for example Cash and Cheque). Cashiers never choose an account: each payment posts to the method's default account for the sale's currency. A payment method without a default account is not offered at the register.
- Open Setup → Feature Settings → Payment Receipts.
- Under Default Accounts For Payment Methods, find the row for each payment method and currency you will take at the counter.
- Tick Default on one account per payment method and currency. Choose New Mapping to add a method or currency that is not listed.
- Choose Save Setting.
Set a default for:
- Cash and Cheque: shown as payment buttons.
- Manual (if you use it): shown as a payment button.
- Credit Card: used for card payments, both from a connected card reader and those recorded from the terminal.
Step 4: Give cashiers access
Each cashier needs their own Versa user with the Point Of Sale permission and access to the entity.
- Open Setup → User Management and choose Add A User.
- Enter the Username, Full Name, Email and a password. Move the entity into Allowed Entities, choose it as the Default Entity and tick Active. Choose Add User.
- In the user list, select the user's name (or the gear icon, Change Permission) to open their permissions.
- Tick Point Of Sale. A cashier who only sells needs nothing else. Untick any permission the cashier should not have, and do not make cashiers Firm Admins.
- Save the permissions.
Users with the Point Of Sale permission open the Point of Sale when they sign in.
Step 5: Create a register
Create one register for each till or counter browser.
- Open Setup → Point Of Sale → Registers and choose New register.
- Fill in the register details and choose Create Register.
- Code: a short code shown to cashiers, for example FRONT-1. It must be unique in the entity.
- Name: a description, for example Front counter.
- Facility: the warehouse whose stock the register sells. It cannot change once the register is in use or has any sale.
- Taxes: either Apply these collected taxes of this entity and choose the taxes (for example your state sales tax), or No tax: sales on this register are taxed at zero. A register without a tax setting cannot start a sale. If you change the setting later, open sales are updated on their next change and the Sale screen warns the cashier before payment. It cannot change while a sale is being paid.
The register now shows on the Registers page with its facility, taxes, status, card reader and who is using it.
Step 6: Configure the register
On the Registers page, choose Settings on the register's row. The menu opens the register's tabs. Each tab saves on its own, and every tab is also shown along the top of the register's pages. The same menu has Use in this browser (choose the register for your own browser), Release and Take over (see Part 3) and Disable.
Details
The code, name, facility and taxes you entered when creating the register. Choose Edit on the register's row, or the Details tab, to change them. The page shows who last changed the tax setting and when.
Layout
Choose how cashiers at this register see a sale. Payment, Hold, the customer, discounts and the lock work the same on both.
- Tiles: product tiles with pictures and prices beside the cart. Suits counters that sell a few products or unlabelled items.
- Scan list: no product tiles; the sale's lines fill the screen. Items are scanned or found by typing a name or code, and favourites show as one row of buttons. Suits checkouts that scan most items.
Cashiers can also switch the layout for their register on the Register page.
Discounts
Tick the reasons cashiers can choose when they give a discount. The list comes from your adjustment types. A discount always lowers the price, posts as the adjustment type does on other orders and records who gave it. Choose only types meant as discounts: a surcharge type would still be applied as a reduction. Choose Save discounts.
Split payments
Turn on Allow split payments to let cashiers take part of a sale's payment by cash, cheque or manual, and the rest by another payment. The sale is locked once the first part is taken and stays on this register until it is fully paid.
- Card returns: what happens when a split sale with a card part is cancelled or returned. Manual review: the card payment is voided or refunded in the card provider's portal, then marked resolved in Versa. Automatic void: the card reader voids it, and if that fails or the answer is unclear, it goes to review.
- Card returns resolved by: Firm Admin only, or Cashier or Firm Admin.
Pay Later
Pay Later accepts a sale without taking payment. It applies the same way to walk-in and named customers. Choose Use overall setting (follows Allow Orders Without Payments), Allow or Do not allow for this register, and save. The top of the tab shows the overall setting and what applies here.
Shipping
When the customer wants the goods shipped, the cashier chooses Ship to customer at payment and picks one of the shipping products listed here as the sale's shipping line. It is charged at its catalogue price and taxed as the product is. Search for a product and choose Add. Without shipping products, a shipped sale has no shipping line.
Invoices
Choose Use overall setting (follows Create Invoice With Orders), Create an invoice or Do not create an invoice. When invoices are on, a sale on this register creates and posts its invoice when the customer takes the goods. Cashiers do not choose this at payment; the payment panel tells them whether an invoice is created.
Receipt
What the register's receipts say and how they print. Changes apply to receipts issued from now on; receipts already issued keep the settings they were issued with.
- Header lines and Footer lines: up to 6 lines each, 64 characters of plain text. The entity's name, address and receipt tax registrations print automatically below the header lines, so use the header for extra lines such as the store name, and the footer for your thank-you and returns policy.
- Logo image and Logo position (Left, Centre or Right): PNG, GIF or JPEG, at most 576 × 400 pixels and 256 KB. A receipt prints without the logo when the printer cannot print it.
- Receipt printer: the printer's specifications. Paper width (58 mm or 80 mm), Printable width (dots), Characters per line, Character set, Paper cut and the widest and tallest logo. Take these values from the printer's manual. Versa does not check that the printer supports them.
Receipt printing
How a receipt reaches paper. A receipt prints on the receipt printer through QZ Tray when it is set up on the counter computer. Otherwise it prints through PrintNode on the printer chosen here, and otherwise it opens as a PDF to print from the browser. If one way does not work, the next one is tried.
- PrintNode printer: available when PrintNode is set up for your company.
- Page size of the PDF receipt: 80 mm (as wide as a receipt roll, for receipt printers) or Full page (a Letter page, for counters with an office printer).
Step 7: Settings shared by all registers
The buttons under For all registers on the Registers page apply to every register in the entity.
Receipt tax registrations
Enter the entity's own tax registration numbers as they should appear on receipts, for example a label such as "Sales Tax Permit" and the number. Up to six. Nothing is filled in for you, and none print until you enter them. Choose Save tax registrations.
Favourites on the Sale screen
The Sale screen opens on these products, in this order, at every register of the entity. Cashiers cannot change the list. Search by product name or part number and choose Add; use Move up, Move down and Remove to arrange the list (up to 48 products). Until you add favourites, the Sale screen opens on all products.
Lock and PINs
A register can be locked from its Lock button, or locks itself after the idle time set here. The next cashier unlocks it with their own PIN, so cashiers can take turns without signing out. A sale being paid never locks.
- Lock after this many idle minutes: applies to every register in the entity. Enter 0 to turn the idle lock off.
- Cashiers: shows whether each cashier has a PIN. Choose Set PIN or Change PIN to set one for them (you confirm with your own password), or Clear to remove it. Cashiers can also set their own PIN under My POS PIN.
- A PIN is 4 to 6 digits, and cannot be one digit repeated or digits in a row, such as 1111 or 1234.
Step 8: Card readers (optional)
Setup → Point Of Sale → Card readers lists the entity's Run Payments card readers and the register each one is assigned to. Card readers belong to a payment gateway, so set up and turn on a Run Payments gateway first under Setup → Payment Gateways, then add the reader and assign it to a register. Until a reader is assigned, cashiers can still record card payments taken on the terminal if you turned that setting on in Step 2.
Setup checklist
- A walk-in customer exists and is chosen in Walk-in Customer For New Sales.
- Turn On The Point Of Sale is ticked and saved.
- Cash, Cheque (and Credit Card if you take cards) have a default account for your currency.
- Each cashier has their own user with the Point Of Sale permission and access to the entity.
- Each register has a facility and a tax setting.
- Receipt text, favourites and the idle lock are set the way you want.
Part 2: Sell at the register (cashiers)
Sign in and choose your register
- Go to the Versa sign-in page and enter your username or email and password. Choose Sign in.
- The Point of Sale opens. If this browser does not hold a register yet, the Register page asks you to choose one.
- Choose Use this register on your register's row. The page confirms that this browser now holds the register.
A register that is in use on another browser cannot be chosen. Ask an administrator to release it. Users who also use the rest of Versa open the Point of Sale from Point of Sale in the user menu, and leave it with Exit POS.
The Point of Sale has four tabs along the top: Sale, Transactions, Held sales and Register. The register's name and the Lock button are always shown. The Sale tab also shows whether the card reader and the receipt printer are set up.
Open the register
When your company requires a register session, open the register before the first sale.
- On the Register tab, under Register session, enter the Opening float: the cash in the drawer at the start.
- Choose Open register. The page confirms the float and shows the session's running totals.
The Register page also has:
- Set or change my PIN: opens My POS PIN.
- Sale screen layout: switch between Tiles and Scan list and choose Save layout.
- Refresh product prices: the Sale screen looks up product prices again, for example after an administrator changes a price.
- Release this register and Release register and sign out: free the register for another browser.
Add or remove cash from the drawer
When cash goes in or out of the drawer for any reason other than a sale (more change from the safe, a deposit taken to the bank), record it so the expected cash stays right.
- On the Register tab, under Cash in or out, choose Cash in (added to the drawer) or Cash out (removed from the drawer).
- Enter the Amount and a Reason, and choose Record cash movement.
Make a sale
- Open the Sale tab. Your favourites show first. Use the category buttons, or search by name or part number, to find other products. A scanned barcode adds the product directly.
- Tap a product to add it to the cart. Tap it again to add another. A number on the tile shows how many are in the cart.
- For a product with options (for example colour and size), tap Choose and pick the option.
- Check the cart on the right: each line, the subtotal, tax and total.
Change an item
Tap a line in the cart to open Edit item. You see the price and the stock in this warehouse and others. Change the Quantity, give a Discount on this item (% off or an amount off, with a reason), add a Note on this item (prints on the receipt and shows on the order and invoice) or choose Remove item. Choose Done to go back to the cart.
Discount or note on the whole sale
- Discount: choose a reason and a percentage, then Apply to every item. The same percentage goes on every item and replaces item discounts.
- Note: a note for the whole sale. It prints on the receipt and shows on the order and invoice.
Choose the customer
Every sale starts with the walk-in customer. To sell to a named customer, tap the customer name at the top of the cart, type part of the name and choose Find, pick the customer and choose Set customer. Pay Later sales are due from this customer.
Hold a sale and resume it
If a customer steps away, choose Hold sale. The cart clears so you can serve the next customer. The held sale is listed on the Held sales tab with its amount, who held it and when. Choose Resume sale to bring it back to the cart, or Cancel held sale to drop it. Prices, taxes and availability are checked again when a sale is resumed, and the screen tells you if anything changed. A held sale is not paid or posted.
Take payment
Choose Charge (the button shows the total). The Take payment panel opens.
- Under The customer, choose Takes it now, Picks up later or Ship to customer.
- Choose the payment method.
- Complete the payment as described below. The panel tells you whether an invoice is created and posted for this sale.
Cash
Choose Cash. Under Cash received, tap Exact or one of the suggested amounts, or type what the customer handed you. The panel shows the Change due. Choose Take payment.
The Sale accepted panel shows the order and invoice numbers, the amount paid, the cash received and the change to give back.
Cheque
Choose Cheque and then Take payment.
Split payment
On a register that allows split payments, change Amount to take now to the first part, take it, then take the rest with another method.
- Enter the first part in Amount to take now, for example 40.00, choose the method (for example Cash) and choose Take payment.
- The panel shows Paid so far and Remaining to pay. The sale is locked until it is fully paid.
- Choose the method for the rest (for example Cheque) and choose Take payment.
If the customer changes their mind before the last part, use Return payments and cancel sale on the same panel. The customer gets back the parts already taken, and the sale is cancelled when every payment is returned.
Card
When the register has a card reader assigned, choose Pay by card and have the customer use the reader. The panel waits for the reader's answer. When no reader is connected and your company allows it, charge the card on the payment terminal itself, then record it:
- Open Card taken on terminal at the bottom of the panel.
- Enter the Approval code or transaction reference on the terminal.
- Tick the confirmation that the terminal shows the payment as approved for the exact amount.
- Choose Record card payment.
No card details are entered in Versa. Use this only when you charged the card on the terminal yourself.
Pay later
For an account customer, choose the customer in the cart first. Then choose Pay later; the panel shows that no payment is taken and how much will be due from the customer. If the sale takes the customer over their credit limit, a note says so; the limit is not enforced at the register. Choose Accept on Pay Later.
No receipt is printed for a Pay Later sale; the order is its record. The amount is collected later as a normal payment receipt in Versa.
Print or email the receipt
On the Sale accepted panel:
- Print or preview the receipt opens Receipt preview, where you can check the receipt and choose Print receipt. Opening the preview does not print anything or open the cash drawer.
- Email the receipt: enter the customer's email address and choose Send.
- If the drawer does not open by itself, the panel says Open the cash drawer by hand.
Choose Next sale to start the next customer's sale.
See the companion article Preview a POS receipt before printing for more about the preview.
Use the Scan list layout
On a register set to Scan list, the screen shows a search box, a row of favourites and the sale's lines. Scan a barcode, or type a name or code and press Enter to add the first match. Keyboard shortcuts are shown under the favourites:
- ⌥S (Option or Alt + S): search.
- ↑ and ↓: move between lines. + and −: change the quantity. Enter: edit the line. Delete: remove it.
- ⌥C: customer. ⌥P: charge.
Find a sale and reprint its documents
The Transactions tab lists the latest sales of all registers in the entity, newest first, with the amount, payment, invoice status and print buttons. To find an older sale, enter its receipt reference (for example "Register FRONT-1 sale 12"), order number or invoice number exactly under Find a sale.
Open a sale to see its details, items and returns. From there you can:
- Print receipt: print the stored receipt again.
- Print order and Print invoice: open the order or invoice as a PDF, or send it to the register's PrintNode printer.
- Return items: start a return.
Return items
- Find the sale on Transactions (or choose Return on the Sale screen) and choose Return items.
- For each item coming back, enter the quantity under Return now. Leave Back to stock ticked if the item can be sold again; untick it for damaged goods.
- Choose Review refund. The review shows the credit for each item, the tax and the refund to the original payments.
- Check the refund amount, enter a Reason and tick The customer gets ... back as shown.
- Choose Confirm refund.
Versa records a credit note and the refund, and tells you what to give back, for example "Give the customer 16.80 USD cash back from the drawer." Choose Print or preview the return receipt for the customer.
The sale's page then lists the return under Returns from this sale. Cash refunds are taken out of the register session's expected cash.
Lock the register and switch cashiers
Choose Lock (top right) when you step away, or let the register lock itself after the idle time. To unlock, choose your name, enter your PIN and choose Unlock. A cashier without a PIN can choose Sign in with a password instead.
To set or change your own PIN, choose Set or change my PIN on the Register tab, enter your password and the new PIN twice.
Close the register
At the end of your shift, count the cash in the drawer.
- On the Register tab, check the session totals: opening float, cash received from sales, change given, cash refunds, cash in and cash out.
- Choose Close register.
- Enter the Cash counted in the drawer and choose Close register. Confirm when asked; a closed session cannot be changed.
Versa compares your count with the expected cash and shows the difference on the session summary. If the difference is more than your company allows, the register stays open and a message explains that a Firm Admin must close it with a note. Leave the drawer as it is and call your administrator.
When you leave the counter for the day, choose Release register and sign out on the Register tab.
Part 3: Review exceptions and audit transactions (administrators)
Firm Admins handle what cashiers cannot: cash differences over the limit, registers stuck on another browser, voids, and card payments that need checking. You also see every register's sessions and transactions.
See who is using each register
Setup → Point Of Sale → Registers shows each register's status and, under In use by, the cashier whose browser holds it and since when.
Release or take over a register
A register stays with the browser that chose it. If that browser is closed, lost or on another counter, free the register from the Registers page: choose Settings on its row, then:
- Release: frees the register so any browser can choose it.
- Take over: moves the register to your own browser at once, for example to close it yourself. The other browser loses it on its next request.
Any open sale stays with the register. Use Disable to stop a register being used at all.
Approve a cash difference at closeout
When a cashier's count is off by more than Cash Difference A Firm Admin Must Approve At Closeout, a Firm Admin closes the register:
- Take over the register in your browser (see above).
- Count the drawer with the cashier.
- On the Register tab, choose Close register, enter the counted cash and a Note explaining the difference, and choose Close register.
The session summary shows the opening float, cash from sales, change given, cash refunds, cash in and out, the expected and counted cash, the difference, who approved it and the note. It lists each cash movement and the sales by payment method. Choose Print for a copy to keep with the day's paperwork.
If items on the register are still unresolved (for example a card payment to review), the close page lists them. As a Firm Admin you can tick Close as Review later; the items stay open and are listed on the summary.
Review register session history
Choose Register session history on the Register tab or the session summary. Each session shows the register, who opened and closed it and when, its status and the difference. Open a session for its full summary.
Void a sale before its invoice is posted
When Post Register Sale Invoices In The Background is on, a sale can be voided until its invoice is posted, for example when the customer cancels right after paying.
- Open the sale from Transactions.
- Under Void this sale, enter the Reason for voiding and choose Void sale. Confirm when asked.
- Give a cash customer their money back from the drawer, as the message says.
Voiding reverses the payment and cancels the order; no invoice is created. The sale's status shows Payment voided and Voided before posting, and the register session counts the refund. After the invoice is posted, use Return items instead.
Invoices to review
When background posting is on and a sale's invoice cannot be posted (for example the accounting period is closed or an account is missing), the Sale screen shows a notice that the register has sales whose invoice needs review. Firm Admins choose Review invoices on the notice to open Invoices to review; there is no menu entry for this page. Fix the reason shown, enter a reason and choose Retry. Retrying posts the same sale's invoice; it does not take another payment.
Card payments to review
A card payment needs review when the card reader's answer was not clear, or the sale changed after the card was approved. The register is blocked for other payments on that sale until it is resolved. The Sale screen tells the cashier not to charge the card again. Firm Admins open Setup → Point Of Sale → Card payments to review, or choose Review card payments on that notice.
- Check the payment with the card provider first.
- Under The provider shows, choose what you found: No money was taken, The card was charged for this amount, The charge was voided or The charge was refunded.
- Enter the provider transaction id when the card was charged, and a reason.
- Choose Resolve. This cannot be undone here.
The same page lists Card payments entered from the terminal: the 100 most recent card payments cashiers recorded from the terminal, with the time, register, cashier, amount and terminal reference. Check each one against the card provider's settlement report.
Audit transactions
The Transactions tab shows every register's sales in the entity, whoever made them. For each sale you see the register, time, amount, how it was paid (cash received and change, split parts, card, Pay Later), and whether its invoice was posted. Open a sale for its receipt reference, cashier, items, returns and documents.
Because every sale is a normal Versa order, you can also find register sales, their invoices, payment receipts and credit notes in the usual order, invoice and receivables screens and reports.
Coordinate the work around the register
- Start of day (cashier): count the float, open the register with it, and record any extra change brought from the safe as cash in.
- During the day (cashier): record every cash drop to the safe as cash out with a reason. Hand anything you cannot resolve (a stuck card payment, a refund over your limit) to a Firm Admin.
- End of day (cashier): count the drawer and close the register. If closing is blocked by a difference, leave the drawer for the Firm Admin.
- End of day (Firm Admin): recount and close any blocked register with a note, print the session summary for the deposit paperwork, and check card payments entered from the terminal (Setup → Point Of Sale → Card payments to review) against the provider's report.
Point of Sale and the rest of Versa
- Orders and invoices: each sale is an order. With invoices on, the invoice is created and posted when the customer takes the goods.
- Payments: payments post to the default account of each payment method (Setup → Feature Settings → Payment Receipts). Pay Later amounts are collected later as normal payment receipts.
- Inventory: goods leave the register's facility when the customer takes them. Returns marked Back to stock go back into it.
- Taxes: each register charges the taxes chosen on its Details tab.
- Discounts: post as the adjustment types chosen on the Discounts tab.
- Companion article: Preview a POS receipt before printing.
If something does not work
- No Point of Sale in the user menu: the entity's Turn On The Point Of Sale setting is off, the user lacks the Point Of Sale permission, or the wrong entity is selected.
- "Choose a register to use the Sale screen": this browser does not hold a register. Choose one on the Register tab.
- A register cannot be chosen: it is in use on another browser. A Firm Admin can release it or take it over.
- A sale cannot start: the register has no tax setting, or the register session is not open.
- A payment method is missing: it has no default account for the sale's currency under Payment Receipts.
- Pay later is missing: Pay Later is not allowed on this register or overall, or the sale is already part paid.
- The register cannot be closed: the cash difference is over the limit, or items are still unresolved. Ask a Firm Admin.
- The register locked itself: it was idle longer than the idle time. Unlock with your PIN.
- The receipt does not print: QZ Tray or PrintNode is not set up for this counter. Open the PDF and print it from the browser.
Tips
- Give each cashier their own user and PIN, so every sale, discount, return and cash movement shows who did it.
- Put your best sellers in Favourites, in the order cashiers reach for them.
- Use Scan list on counters with a barcode scanner, and Tiles where most items have no barcode.
- Set a small cash difference threshold (or 0.00) so that every discrepancy gets a note.
- Print the session summary at closeout and keep it with the cash deposit.
What this guide does not cover
- Setting up a Run Payments gateway, card readers, QZ Tray or PrintNode.
- Creating customers, products, taxes, adjustment types and payment methods.
- Collecting Pay Later balances and depositing cash, which use the normal payment receipt and banking screens.
